The 1965 Porsche 912 was announced in April 1965.  It was presented as a "European type" available only to the old continent dealer network, as the 356 C and SC were the 1965 USA models.
Between April and August would qualify a 912 to be considered as being a true 1965 model year car.
A handful of /American 1965 Porsche 912's are known to exist.  These  earliest 912's were picked up by Americans at the Porsche factory or imported directly to Porsche of American Corp. in Teaneck, New Jersey.

All the 1966 Porsche 912 cars were built from September 1965 and later.

So far, there are only 5 known 1965 USA built specification cars originally built with USA speedometers.  One of those (#3350485) has a european motor number, but recognized as the oldest Porsche 912 sold in America and still on the road .  Only 4 known survivors were built with USA-spec engines, and 2 still have their original USA engines.
